Ramos Furniture San Jose

I bought a set of reclining sofas here a couple years ago. Both broke down with obvious signs of electrical damage. One recliner got stuck in the reclined position. Called to request information for a repair service (out of our pocket) and/or information to locate a release latch to drop the recliner down. There was nothing out of pocket for Ramos, and they could have gotten a future sale from me for replacement furniture. My wife called to get information and was met with hostility. The service representative yelled at my wife and refused to provide any information. Apparently, they were stuck on the issue of there not being a warranty despite my wife asserting we are not asking for a warranty repair. We wanted to know who repairs this furniture or how we can drop our recliner down to get it out of the apartment. You know, so maybe we could buy a replacement from Ramos since having a broken recliner being stuck in our apartment prevents this. The representative continued to be hostile, so my wife requested to speak with the manager; but was told he would not be in today. I called myself and stated the same case. I got a totally different bipolar response. However, they refused to provide any information for either repairs (on our dime) or how to drop the recliner down. Nothing out of pocket for Ramos. I asked to speak with the manager, I was told he wouldn't be in until for another half an hour. Oh, now he works today! This despite my wife being told he would not be in at all. 8 minutes later, Ramos' manager, Richard, called back, but refused to provide me with any information. The cheapest thing they could offer. He kept making the issue about a warranty despite me stating clearly several times that I was looking to either make repairs out of my own pocket; or seeking information to drop the recliner down to get the sofa out of my apartment to purchase a new furniture set (hint: a possible sale). But no, the store representative and manager had to escalate the issue. I would not recommend Ramos to my worse enemy and regret my purchase from them. Things break, I accept that, but being a little helpful would have made a future repeat customer. Apparently, from the reviews, this store is not a reputable business and have no interest offering them my repeat business. I would recommend all customers having problems with this business in Santa Clara to seek assistance with the Santa Clara District Attorney's consumer protection unit as well. Additionally, there is a distinct difference between how this staff treats males and females. For fairness sake, I would not recommend a female deal with this staff alone for a purchase or subsequent repair with a warranty, or otherwise. Although the staff was ultimately unhelpful with me, I decisively got a lot farther in the dispute process than my wife. I have a hard time accepting a good rationale why this manager suddenly was on duty for me after my wife was told he would not.
